Transfer gossip: Man Utd ‘serious’ about Vlahovic and Griezmann; Toon eye ‘Georgian Messi’
Manchester United are planning on making a move for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic in January, with Antoine Griezmann also fancied by Erik ten Hag…
UNITED TO MOVE FOR ARSENAL TARGET
Manchester United need a striker. They needed a striker before Cristiano Ronaldo saw his arse and with the 37-year-old now gone, the Red Devils really must address the hole in their squad next month.
The only question was whether they do it properly or paper over the chasm with another Odion Ighalo. A couple of whispers around this morning suggests they might be getting their sh*t together.
Corriere dello Sport reckons United are ‘serious’ about targeting Dusan Vlahovic. The Serbia striker only joined Juventus last winter but the fallout from the Old Lady’s financial irregularities means Vlahovic could be moved on again after just a year, in which time he’s scored 16 goals in 36 appearances.
If Juve signal a willingness to listen to offers for the centre-forward, then United could face competition from Arsenal, Liverpool (really?), Chelsea and PSG.
TEN HAG FANCIES FRANCE STAR
United are also said to be ‘monitoring’ Antoine Griezmann…
The France forward has been one of the stars of the World Cup in a free role for Didier Deschamps side. Mediafoot reckons Erik ten Hag appreciates the 31-year-old’s versatility and feels he could operate in multiple positions across United’s attack.
Griezmann only re-signed for Atletico in October having spent last season on loan from Barcelona, who received around half of the £34million they initially wanted. You will probably hear the p*ss boiling all the way from the Nou Camp if Atletico flip Griezmann for a quick profit.
NEWCASTLE KEEN ON KVARADONA
Newcastle have been doing some monitoring of their own, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in their sights…
Kvaratskhelia has been brilliant for Napoli since joining from Dinamo Batumi for £10million back in August. Just a dozen Serie A appearances later and ‘Kvaradona’ is now valued at five times that amount.
The Times says the Magpies have been watching the ‘Georgian Messi’ closely since he moved to Naples and so impressed they have been with his record of eight goal and eight assists in all competitions, Kvaratskhelia has now become a priority for the next two transfer windows.
That being true, it is almost certain that Newcastle will have to wait until the summer. Napoli are currently top of Serie A and will recommence the season eight points clear. The prospect of them selling one of their best players midway through the campaign seems remote, especially since the likes of PSG and Real Madrid are also lurking. If Kvaratskhelia maintains his current form, his value could double again come the summer.
