Serie A club set out plan to fend off Manchester City, Newcastle interest in €60m youngster

Napoli are planning to discuss a new contract with Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia amidst interest from several Premier League clubs.

Kvaratskhelia, also known as Kvaradona, has lit up the Serie A this season following his summer arrival.

Signed for only €10million from Georgian side Dinamo Batumi, his asking price could well have another zero added onto it.

The 21-year-old is valued at €60m, according to Transfermarkt.

Courtesy of the same website, we know that Kvaratskhelia has scored eight and assisted ten in 17 matches across all competitions this term.

He seems destined to move to the Premier League, though Napoli are absolutely flying, so why would he want to move?

Another Napoli player who has been linked with a move to England is Victor Osimhen, who recently admitted that his goal is to win titles with the Naples team.

He said: “It’s one of the best clubs in Europe and I want to win here. The future is this moment, try to win something relevant in Italy.

“It’s hard to think about something better than Napoli, one of the best clubs in Italy, right now.

“I am only focused on this season because we haven’t done anything yet. We must win something and then we’ll see what happens.”

Having only just joined, Kvaratskhelia is under contract for a while, with his current deal not expiring until 2027.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli will offer the 21-year-old fresh terms in order to fend off interest from the likes of Newcastle United and Manchester City.

The report states that the player is committed to the Italian giants and is ‘focused’ on winning Serie A this term.

Napoli will look to double Kvaratskhelia’s wage as they know clubs from England and Spain can offer him huge money.

Should a team like Newcastle, City or Liverpool come in for the young attacker next month, you would expect Napoli to turn it down given their title aspirations and performances in this season’s Champions League.

Newcastle are in the market for a new versatile forward and Kvaratskhelia could be the perfect profile for them as they continue to blossom into top-four hopefuls, a year on from being a club settling for Premier League safety.

While they have not spent as much as first anticipated when taken over last year, the Magpies have spent a fair whack, bringing in some top players such as Kieran Trippier, Sven Botman, and Bruno Guimaraes.
