Newcastle plot statement signing of forward who’s ‘flying’, as summer move could be tempting

Newcastle United are still eyeing Kvicha Kvaratskhelia as per insider Ben Jacobs, and while Napoli are “flying”, he thinks a different situation could be presented in the summer.

A number of Premier League sides have been linked with a move for Kvaratskhelia over the course of the season. That list includes big names such as Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City, as well as Leeds United and Newcastle.

It’s not difficult to see why the winger is so in demand. Indeed, his first season at Napoli has catapulted him right towards the top of Europe’s most exciting upcoming talents.

The 21-year-old has registered some phenomenal numbers in front of goal in Serie A. Indeed, he’s scored seven goals and provided 10 assists in 16 games so far.

Napoli have enjoyed the benefits of the Georgian’s form. He’s their second-top scorer in all competitions and has also helped them to a 13-point lead at the top of Serie A.

Given his form is so electric, interest is not set to cease any time soon. While insider Jacobs believes he’ll be hard to prise away from the Serie A leaders, he also feels he’s one to look out for at Newcastle.

“Other wide players for Newcastle that I think are worth keeping an eye on; ‘Kvaradona’ as he’s known, like Maradona, a player at Napoli often compared to Georgi Kinkladze – they share the same nationality as well. Manchester City have looked, Newcastle have looked,” he said on Twitter.

“Really difficult to get anyone away from Napoli, though, because they’re flying at the moment, but who knows, the summer might be a different situation.”

It’s no question that were the Magpies to manage to land him, it would be a statement for a number of reasons. Not least due to the fact they’d have prised him away from one of Europe’s form sides.

What’s more, amid interest from City, it would be a massive flex of their muscles if they were to beat the Prem giants to the snare.

Newcastle are trending in the right direction at the moment, though. Indeed, they’re third in the Premier League, having lost just one league game all season.

With the genuine prospect of Champions League football, bringing big names to the club will be much easier than without it. While they’re not a match for Napoli’s current accomplishments, there could be a chance of snaring Kvaratskhelia.
