Manchester United are yet to receive an offer for Raphael Varane despite the French defender being heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi Pro League has been sweeping up plenty of Europe’s top stars and Varane is the latest player subject to interest.

Al-Ittihad have already signed French stars such as Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante and Varane is reportedly on their list.

According to Rudy Galetti, Al-Ittihad have shown an ‘interest’ in the 30-year-old defender, but Man Utd will have been boosted by a recent development.

While the Saudi club seem keen on the move, they are yet to make an offer for the star and Varane himself seems content in Manchester.

According to Julien Laurens, Varane wouldn’t leave Man Utd this summer even if he was offered a lucrative deal in Saudi.

“I didn’t think I needed to do this but the rumours are going too strong now!” Laurens reported on Twitter.

“So, no Raphael Varane hasn’t been contacted by any Saudi Arabian club. He is very happy at United and wouldn’t want to leave even if one contacted him.”

The French defender has a contract at Old Trafford which runs until the summer of 2025 and it seems as if he is keen to remain in Europe for the time being.

Varane has had a number of injury problems since arriving in England, but he has been a regular in the starting 11 under Erik ten Hag.

The Dutch boss has often started with Varane alongside Lisandro Martinez in the backline as the duo complement each other well.

Ten Hag has been looking to add another defender to his ranks this summer, but that idea has been scuppered by Harry Maguire sticking around.

There is still uncertainty over Maguire’s long-term future at the club as Man Utd ponder what to do with the England international.

It’s not been the most convincing of starts for Man Utd this season as they looked unconvincing against Wolves and then lost to Tottenham in their second game of the season.

We’re still in the early days of the new campaign of course, but Ten Hag still has plenty of work to do in order to get his squad up to the required standard.
