Louis Saha believes that Anthony Martial could still have something to offer next season, despite Manchester United looking to sign a new striker.

A new centre-forward has been high on the priority list all summer for Ten Hag as he looks to ease the goalscoring burden on Marcus Rashford.

Rasmus Hojlund is their primary target as things stand, with the club hopeful that a bid of around £50m will be enough to sign him.

While Ten Hag is currently focused on transfers, the future of Martial is up in the air once again. Martial has been left out of Ten Hag’s 26-man squad to face Leeds United in pre-season as he is still nursing a hamstring injury.

Despite his injury-prone nature, Saha still thinks the 27-year-old could have something to offer next season.

“It’s possible,” Saha told Betfred when asked if Man Utd can still be successful without signing a striker this summer.

“Manchester United still have Anthony Martial, who’s been very unlucky with injuries, and hopefully he can get more gametime next season because he still has a lot to offer.

“Without a top striker however, it will be extra difficult stepping up to a level where you’re competing for the Premier League title and participating in the Champions League, but the squad does look well balanced, so it’s still possible that the club can be successful this season without the signing of a new striker.”

Along with being linked with a move for Hojlund, Man Utd have also considered Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani.

Saha has discussed the strengths of both players, along with some other forwards that United could target.

“I do really like the style of Rasmus because he’s very committed, he can hold the line as a number nine and he’s got a great left foot.  On the other hand, Randal is a very active player, he’s skillful and very intelligent.

“They’re both top, top players, but another player they could consider is Lautaro Martínez of Inter Milan. He has something to offer the Premier League, that’s for sure. Dušan Vlahović of Juventus could be another potential option, but he’s more of a traditional striker.”
