Liverpool ‘satisfy’ Klopp’s ‘wish’ as ‘hidden pearl’ sparks ‘unexpected interest’ amid Man Utd links
According to reports, Liverpool are planning to renew their interest in Fluminense midfielder Andre, who has also been linked with Manchester United.
Liverpool’s summer recruitment was centred around their midfield rebuild, with around £150m being spent to sign Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch.
Gravenberch was the Premier League club’s final summer signing and they were linked with several potential midfield targets before the Dutchman completed his switch from Bayern Munich.
Fluminense defensive midfielder Andre has been mentioned as a Liverpool target. It was claimed shortly before the summer transfer window closed that the 22-year-old has rejected Man Utd to ‘agree terms’ with Jurgen Klopp’s side.
This transfer did not end up coming to fruition and it’s been reported that Liverpool are putting their interest on ice until January.
Fluminense have been keen to keep hold of Andre until this season’s Copa Libertadores finishes in November.
A transfer for Andre could be back on the cards in January and Spanish outlet Fichajes are reporting that Klopp has ‘asked for the Brazilian hidden pearl’.
Liverpool’s ‘unexpected interest’ in Andre comes after the ‘Brazilian team already rejected other offers from European teams’ in the summer.

It is indicated that ‘Liverpool do not rule out making an important financial offer in January’ with their ‘main objective’ being to ‘satisfy the wishes of German coach Klopp and signing the talented Brazilian midfielder’.
It is hard to see Liverpool signing another midfielder after they recruited four players in that area of the pitch during the most recent transfer window.
Speaking last month, Andre admitted that he is “happy” to be linked with a move to Liverpool but he also insisted that he is “focused” on Fluminense.
“It is obvious that it is normal to receive offers. Even more so with the team doing well, getting through in the Copa Libertadores, near the top of the Brasileirao,” Andre told Globo Esporte.
“Not just for me, but it must have gotten to others as well. I am happy for the proposals that arrive, but my mind today is focused 100 per cent on Fluminense.”
Instead of signing Andre in January, Liverpool are more likely to target a new centre-back in January as they look for a young defender who can compete with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate.
They will also be forced into the market for a new winger if Mo Salah completes his move to the Saudi Pro League amid interest from Al-Ittihad.
