Liverpool make ‘juicy offer’ for La Liga star as Klopp nears Brazilian ‘happy ending’
Premier League side Liverpool have made their opening offer to sign Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga, according to reports.
The Reds have already sealed deals for Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai from Brighton and RB Leipzig respectively with Jurgen Klopp looking to improve on last season’s fifth-placed finish in the Premier League.
Klopp’s midfield was blamed for a lot of their problems last term as they struggled in the opening two thirds of the season.
It’s all change as James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita left the club on free transfers at the end of June, while the unexpected departures of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to Saudi Arabia have left Liverpool needing a couple more midfielders.
Romeo Lavia appears to be their main target with Southampton rejecting the Reds ‘improved’ second bid for the Belgium international earlier this week, while Manchester United are also now reportedly interested.
Reacting recently to Liverpool interest in Lavia, former defender Jose Enrique said: “Very young. But very talented player. I really like him and Klopp can help him a lot.”

And now Deportes COPE Galicia (via Estadio Deportivo) has claimed that Liverpool have made a ‘juicy offer’ for Celta Vigo’s Veiga as they continue their search for affordable midfielders.
That ‘juicy offer’ is for €25m with Celta hoping for €40m – but Liverpool are trying to get round that by agreeing a lower fee now and loaning Veiga back to the Spanish side for the season.
Liverpool are still seen as ‘the most probable destination’ for Veiga despite speculation that Arsenal or Manchester City could enter the race for the Spain Under-21 international.
It remains to be seen if Celta will accept the bid from the Premier League club with the possibility that they might wait for ‘different bidders to raise the price’.
The La Liga side ‘may press the green button’ but ‘they are not in a hurry’ with reports of interest from Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid too.
And there is progress on another of Klopp’s targets with Brazilian publication Gazeta Esportiva insisting that Liverpool are ‘close’ to placing a bid for Fluminense’s Andre.
Liverpool are ready to put €25m down for the Brazilian midfielder ‘in the next few days’ with Klopp ‘closer to achieving a happy ending’.
Andre, who has one cap for the Brazil senior side, views a move to Liverpool and the Premier League through ‘good eyes’ after being tracked by some of Europe’s top sides.
