Arsenal ‘unlikely’ to sign Napoli winger because of £132m Man Utd transfer decision
Arsenal are unlikely to sign Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia with Man Utd looking to sign his team-mate Victor Osimhen, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio
The Gunners are likely to be able to attract the best players in the world in the summer transfer window with Mikel Arteta currently leading Arsenal to top spot in the Premier League and probable Champions League qualification.
One player Arsenal have been linked with is Kvaratskhelia, who has provided 14 goals and 14 assists in 30 Serie A and Champions League matches this term, but Di Marzio doesn’t think it is a deal that will get done this summer because Napoli would prefer to sell Osimhen to Man Utd.
Di Marzio told Kelbet: “I don’t think Kvaratskhelia can leave Napoli to go to Arsenal. He has only been there for one season and it is really unlikely that the club will sell him now .
“Napoli must absolutely keep him for at least another season and then he could leave.
“If they sell Osimhen for 150 million euros (£132m) they are more than happy and then they don’t need to sell Kvaratskhelia.
“I think Osimhen can leave Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain could be a possibility for him. But Manchester United are probably the favorites to take him.
“Man United’s main focus is definitely Osimhen and has been for at least two seasons. He is an excellent player and very particular with his skills of him.
“I think Napoli will let him go for between 130 and 150 million euros and Man United can afford it.”
On whether Man Utd will prioritise Osimhen or Tottenham striker Kane, Di Marzio added: “Harry Kane’s situation is a bit strange. Obviously Man United will try to get him if they can’t get Osimhen, who is their top priority.
“But Tottenham want to keep him and renew his contract. They spoke to him and his agent many times. But it also depends on the new Tottenham manager, if Kane can see a winning project at Tottenham.”
AC Milan winger Rafael Leao is another player who could be on the move this summer but Di Marzio doubts Chelsea will spend another €100m on a winger after signing Mykhaylo Mudryk in January.
Di Marzio continued: “I think Rafael Leao will renew his contract with Milan and stay.
“In the last period his performances haven’t been the best, but I know that Milan want to keep him and renew his contract and he is doing very well in Milan.
“Chelsea bought Mudryk for €100m in his position, so it’s difficult to spend another €100m in the same position.
“At the moment I think he can renew his contract and stay.
“Beto is also a player that Napoli can sign if Osimhen leaves for Manchester United. Beto is also a target for Nottingham Forest. He’s at the top of their list.”
